Today's Prescription: My Current Fave Black-Owned Businesses

Happy Hump Day boos! I hope you all are doing well, staying masked up, and protecting your peace. Lord knows I am.

Today, I wanted to highlight some black-owned businesses that I’ve been frequently supporting. I’m sure you’ll love them too! Keep reading below, to support the talent in our community ya’ll.

  1. House of Rehab: This one is my favorite hands down! I love the owner Ms. Ashlee Jackson, and I’ve been supporting her brand since 2016. House of Rehab is for all the fashion addicts and the girls who are overdressed for kickbacks. House of Rehab has shirts, sweats, purses, lapel pins, you name it, it’s there. House of Rehab is affordable, and will keep you coming for more. I’m currently wearing the “Fashion Made Me Do It” Sweatshirt.

  2. LIT by Sonshine Bath: Now ya’ll know I love me some candles! I’m always scoping out scents, and when I stumbled upon LIT by Sonshine Bath, I just had to give in. Owned by Tuanieha Twanna, a mompreneur who makes dope candles for every room in your house. The names of each candle are so relatable, and she literally has a candle for everyone! My faves are “Crazy Plant Lady,” “Issa Fiance,” and “Laundry Day.”

  3. The Carter Brand: If you love apparel that’s super black, look no further. The Carter Brand is one of the blackest online apparel businesses owned by Day McCall. My husband is a pastor, and his theology is deeply influenced by how God has moved throughout history through the lives of black people to fight oppression and obtain freedom. I OFTEN shop here for him and he loves their pieces. When I’m shopping for me though, I’m usually there for the black love shirts. You can find my favorite pieces here and here.

  4. The Brand Label: I could talk about this one all day. The Brand Label is owned by two black women- Shaq and Nola, who absolutely make their clothing for girls like me. Two-piece sets, blazers, statement sleeves, colors, you name it. The quality is top notch and unique. It is more on the expensive side, but you can pay using Afterpay. They also have an app where you can purchase some pieces. Come on technology!

  5. Blessed Little Bungalow: Okay, another absolute favorite! Blessed Little Bungalow is owned by my friend and interior designer Amber Guyton, who when it comes to the home she does it all! She designed my apartment when I lived in Charlotte, and we’re currently working with Amber to decorate our new home. Amber literally has a special gift, and you should definitely let her help you make your house a home. She will bring any vision you have to life, and I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Okay, that’s all I have for now! While these are my faves, there’s plenty more that I will highlight for you all. Our community and people have so much to offer, and we should invest in them.

If you have any favorite black-owned businesses to share, please do so in the comments.

I love ya’ll, be blessed, and stay fab!

XOXO,
