Today's Prescription: A Dose of Dennis Residence

Happy Monday ya’ll! Today, I’m sharing with you our home, #ADoseOfDennis residence. Back in 2018, I hired Amber Guyton from Blessed Little Bungalow to design my glam room. Fast forward three years later, and here we are in need of design services for our new construction home. Of course, Amber listened to our wants and needs and delivered as she always does. Keep reading to see all the magic that has made our house a home.

The living room was a blank canvas which I loved because I wanted to be able to do any and everything in this room. For me, it was about this space being colorful, full of plants, and being a blackity BLACK. When people walk in our home, Ciapha and I want everyone to know, these are black people who LOVE their culture out loud.

The powder room was a last minute venture, LITERALLY. We had two painters come in and painted the bathroom a beautiful black. Amber then came in and free hand painted the walls in the unique squiggly white pattern with a metallic gold accent and splatter. No lie, Ciapha has already been taking photos in there.

Remember when I said I wanted people to know that this is a BLACK space? Well, our master bedroom is where the buck stops. The wallpaper alone grabs you when you walk in the room. The bed and curtains are so buttery smooth, and while I’ve never been one to spend all of my time in my bedroom, I find myself in here a lot lately. Also, can we please talk about this mirror? To complete our home, I needed my glam room back. While this room is a bit smaller than my former glam room, it’s still the space that makes my heart smile, fuels my creative juices, and welcomes me with open arms when I want to just chill and read a book with a glass of wine. My favorite part of this room would definitely be the bookshelf. It speaks to the color queen bookworm in me.
