Today's Prescription: Suits 101

Happy Monday ya’ll! Are you into suits? No, not the stuffy black and navy suits for work. Maybe you want to dabble in them, but not sure where to start? Well, to know me is to know that I love a good suit and I’m all for the girls wearing them! Today, I’m going to give you some quick tips on making suits work for you!

1. Color: I’m a color girl, so when I’m shopping for a suit, I go for the brightest of the bunch. That way, I don’t have to do much for accessories or even shoes. If you’re not a color lover like me, you can always go with a black suit an add in color through your lipstick, or a clutch or bag.  

2. What’s Underneath: Me personally, I love a suit with a low-cut blazer. I don’t have much to let loose, but that makes it easier for me to ditch a top underneath and throw on big earrings or a nice necklace. If you’re not comfortable with showing skin, throw on a nice silky camisole, or a graphic tee for a more relaxed look.

3. Shoes: Shoes are my favorite when styling a suit because you just can’t go wrong. You can wear heels, sneakers, or flats, and still be the baddest chick in the room. I usually go for a nice heel, but the one time I tried a suit with sneakers, I fell in love! It was nice to be fly and comfortable.

4. Accessories: When it comes to accessorizing a suit, the possibilities are ENDLESS. As I mentioned above, a necklace and clutch are staples for a suit, but there’s more. Statement rings are dope and a good bangle set works if your blazer sleeves are rolled up.

5. Drape it Up: I love draping a blazer over my top when wearing a blazer. It gives off “boss” vibes! It works best when the blazer has a more relaxed feel like a longline. Just be sure to wear a form-fitting top when you try this method out.
