Today's Prescription: Joy
Happy Monday boos!
I know it’s fall, and that usually means we swapping out our colorful pieces for a wardrobe of maroons, browns, and burnt colors, but to know me is to know that I love bright colors. Color literally puts a smile on my face, it gives me joy. You can find my look here.
I attended the Cantu x Curlbox Masterclass last month, and though all of the speakers were bomb, I really loved Thea Monyee (@theamonyee). She’s a therapist, among many other cool things, and one of the points she spoke about what saying no to what doesn’t bring you joy.
It seems like it’s such a simple thing to do, but it’s so difficult for me! If I’m being honest, I’ve said yes to so many things and people just to keep the peace, and it’s draining chile! From that day, I decided to be intentional about saying no to doing things that don’t bring me joy, and you should too.
Now, I’m not telling you to say no to your responsibilities, but I am saying put yourself first and don’t stretch yourself too thin. For me, this is not only about being my first priority, but it about me living the life that God wants me to live. I’m sure He doesn’t want me to be stressed and running on empty, and He doesn’t want that for you either sis.
2 Corinthians 3:12 says, “So, since we have such a hope, we act with great confidence.”
Say no with confidence sis and get your joy.
I love ya’ll, be blessed, and stay fab!
XOXO,
Zaria
